I currently have 2 MiBox S devices. They have worked great for everything that I need.
Recently for our projector, we moved to a theater receiver and speakers (5.1 system that is Atmos ready if / when I buy some Atmos speaker add ons).
I have known about the Shield TV forever, and was patiently waiting for an updated model. Today I learned about the Shield TV Pro.
I am curious how much of an upgrade over the MiBox it would be?
Can anyone help?
I’ve had a Mi box 3 for a few years and just bought a shield pro for Christmas. The difference is extremely noticeable when it comes to processing speed and responsiveness of the android tv OS. The shield also does AI upscaling and it looks so fucking good, that feature would get me to pay the premium alone.
All that said, I had a sale alert set with camelx3 and bought it when it was on sale like $80 off (CAD). So even tho I’m sold now, I never would’ve paid the full price.
Like leaving an iPhone 7 to a brand new iphone 13
It runs almost the same software, but the iphone 13 is a lot faster. Also more expensive

Shield TV pro was launched in 2019.
And yeah, it's definitely an upgrade over Mi Box S.
It's a tremendous upgrade but do you need all it can do? Are you using or plan on using Plex or Kodi for TrueHD Atmos or just streaming Atmos?
Equally, I've been wondering, Kia Rio or Bugatti Veyron?
