So yesterday I downloaded a couple button remappers to try and remap the YouTube button to SmartTube, but neither of them let me do so, when I try and add the YouTube button to remap, they do not recognize the button press [in app] and therefore won't let me remap it. So my question is, is there a workaround for this?

You may need to pay for the full app. It's worth it.
If ButtonMapper doesn't recognize the button there is no easy way to do it.

Edit: I ended up just remapping the Channel Up button SmartTube after trying a few things.
Is your remote Bluetooth or IR? Button Remapper app works redirecting Bluetooth commands.
If your remote is IR, it is hard coded.
To check, point your cell camera to the remote and press the button, if you see the remote blinking, it is IR.
