Update to ADT-3 downgraded me from the new Google TV UI back to the Android TV UI.

Hey everyone,

I have an ADT-3, and I manually upgraded it to Google TV 12 . Google TV is the new UI that will eventually replace the tried and true Android TV UI that most other TVs and boxes use.

Everything was going well for the past couple months but I got an update this morning that downgraded me back to the Android TV UI. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm guessing that it's probably because the build number is newer (adt3-stt1.211025.001.z4) than the Google TV build (adt3_gtv-stt1.211025.001.z3) which is why the box saw it as an upgrade.

I would consider that an upgrade for sure. The new UI is terrible, adverts notwithstanding.

Same thing happened to me with a 2017 Shield on the Android 11 update. It was temporary.

You guessed right. You updated the "Android TV" system image, not the Google TV one

A device like the adt-3 that is marketed as "for developer use only - not for consumer use."...

Should have a software switch to disable updates.

Although I despise the google tv os and much prefer the android tv os.

I was about to flash 13 Beta 4, but its only available as a GTV build, and I want to stay ATV.
