I am looking to get a streaming device for my tv but I hate using slow ui which is the current problem I am having with my old fire stick, I noticed on newer steaming sticks the performance is still pretty slow.
I am wandering if installing android tv on an old pc would be a better option than buying a streaming device like a fire stick or something. I am just looking for the best performance so I don’t have to deal with slow ui anymore.

If you find the UI sluggish, and you're handy with ADB commands, you can always try the old cheap trick of adjusting the animation speeds on a Fire TV device (or any Android/Android TV device) to make the UI a bit snappier:
Fire TV devices don't allow setting of these thru Developer options like on Android/Android TV devices, so you have to use ADB commands. The ADB commands will still work on Android/Android TV devices, but using Developer options is easier. There is a sideloadable app you can install that works on Fire TV and also Android TV devices that wraps these ADB commands in an app.
I use the following settings personally:
settings put global window_animation_scale 0
settings put global transition_animation_scale 0
settings put global animator_duration_scale 0.1

Nvidia Shield TV. Had the Pro since 2015 and it still runs great.
I went from box to stick and back for years, always tired of the UI slowing down. Finally got a Shield 4 years ago. Wish I wouldn't have been so cheap all those years. Shield works just as fast as day 1. And I got a 2nd one. You won't regret getting a shield, and it will be supported by Nvidia for years.
Shield TV , Fire TV Cube & Apple TV 4K are the fastest streaming devices. All three devices support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos streaming. The Shield's biggest downfall as a streaming device is that it doesn't support HDR on YouTube, the Fire TV Cube and Apple TV 4K both support YouTube HDR. The Shield TV is the best device for local content playback as it fully supports lossless multi-channel audio output.
Nvidia shield would be my suggestion.
Nvidia shield TV (even better the Pro version) or the Google TV with chromecast.
What will you do with it? Mainly streaming?
You cant just install android tv on pc.
Xiaomi stick 4k, more than enough, the UI speed is great, not as fast as shield ofcourse, but fast enough
Lets welcome Nviadia sheild sale team. They would say its the best device, there are cheaper alternatives which are better, their sales teams are not as organised as the Shield mafia.

Even if you are on a good streaming device, you will need a good iptv anti-buffer server.
Xiaomi mi box s still good and fast enough to do the job 👍👌
Yep, even the $20 ONN UHD is better than what you are used to. I'd easily recommend it to anyone just trying Android TV for the first time.
