UPDATE: Unbelievably, I have since found out that there is no longer any way to reset the PIN code on this TV to get it out of restricted mode . After I was unable to download the software that TCL support referenced in their initial reply, they followed up with this unbelievable piece of information:
Apologies for providing an invalid link. Upon checking with our supervisors, the software on the link I provided is already outdated which is why it was removed. Unfortunately, the steps I provided in my previous email are no longer applicable to the current software versions. The only way we can exit from Restricted mode without the password is by replacing the board on the TV.
Seeing as the TV is still under the manufacturer's warranty, we send a technician to repair the TV at no cost. We will first send the repair parts to the tech and once received, they will contact you to set up an appointment which will be depending on your availability.
I'm conflicted here:
- ✅ They have offered to send a tech out to replace the freaking board to fix the issue, albeit only because I am within the warranty period (by a month).
- ❌ It amazes me that there is no way to reset this TV if you have physical access to it. What is the market for this TV? To protect Fort Knox from cyber attacks?
Hello! I’m embarrassed to have to ask for this but I am stumped. I have a TCL Android TV, model 65S434-CA.
At some point, somebody has setup a restricted settings PIN. I have no idea what the PIN is.
I want to factory reset it but none of the online guidance, or even the factory user manual is any help.
I can’t reset it through the menu via remote because it is in restricted mode.
There is no reset button to press with a pin.
The factory default PIN codes such as 1234, 0423, or 0812 don’t work.
Any suggestions on what to try next?
I don’t care if the TV is completely reset. I just need to get it out of restricted mode.
so it wont let you get to settings inside android TV without a PIN?
my quick google searching didn't bring anything up for that model TV besides the factory reset inside android
here is a guide to resetting it in android if you have not tried yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht1N0fznz4Y
