Rotate HDMI connector 180°

by Ziqul

I have BenQ X1300i. This projector has special compartment for Android TV dongles (pic. 1), where BenQ QS01 can be placed (pic. 2). My issue is that QS01 is not certified for Netflix application and cannot have it installed or streamed.

I am thinking about replacing QS01 with Mi TV Stick, but I have a problem with that. BenQ QS01 needs power which is delivered via Micro USB located (relative to front side top-up) on left side (pic. 3). Mi TV Stick also needs power, also delivered via Micro USB, but located (relative to front side top-up) on right side (pic. 6). This basically means that I cannot install Mi TV Stick into special dongle compartment and power it with provided cable (pic. 1).

My question goes like that: is there any solution to rotate HDMI connector 180°? Or may be there is some other solution that I am not seeing?

Adapt the USB, not the HDMI. See UCBeef's suggestion.

Can you get away with a right angle usb micro extension to reach the other side?

Look up Port Saver on the Monoprice website.

Maybe you could do a 90 degree port saver and a 270 degree port saver connected together to make a turn one way then the other way.

Or they also have an 8" HDMI cable which would be more flexible and allow you to get the MI TV stick out of the way.

Is there another USB port on the monitor? You may be able to use another USB to micro USB cable to power the MI stick.

Maybe you can fit a 90° Micro USB connector in there.

There are different approaches to solve that:

  1. An HDMI coupler, you have to check that the coupler has different inputs, one has to be rotated 180º.
  2. Use an USB extension, there are some which are flat enough to fit it in the small space between the wall of the projector and your Xiaomi Stick (UCBeef included a link to one of those, some are flat and can give you even more room).
  3. Use an HDMI extension, that way you can connect your stick to the other end and power it with its own USB power adapter.
  4. Use an HDMI switch you'll have to connect it to your projector/tv with an HDMI cable and have the added benefit of having two or more devices connected to a single projector/tv, each of those devices will have to be powered by their own power adapter.
