Mouse and Keyboard do not work on Hisense 4K TV

by kimetic

I am trying to recover data on my broken samsung S10 that has a jet black screen. After much research, the best route was USB to HDMI. I have successfully mirrored my phone onto my Hisense 4K Smart TV. However, devices plugged in such as mouse and keyboard are not working. The TV has two USB slots, I have tried them both. The keyboard and mouse light up so the TV has detected them. But there is no movement on screen when trying to use them. All I need to do is navigate to the settings app to sort out debugging so I am able to transfer files onto my PC. This is becoming increasingly frustrating. Is it a case that only wireless usb devices work?

You can't use a keyboard/mouse that is plugged into your TV in this case. Remember, you are mirroring your phone to the TV screen. You actually have to use a Bluetooth keyboard or keyboard/mouse combo on your phone.

As the other comment has mentioned, the mouse and keyboard is controlling the TV, not the phone. HDMI is not smart enough to send mouse/keyboard commands from the screen to the host device.

Another option is a USB hub with HDMI out, so you can plug your USB keyboard and mouse into that. This might be the better option since the BT devices need to pair with the phone, and considering the phone screen doesn't work, trying to get it into pairing mode will be tricky.
