So I got a Sarason android smart tv it runs android 7.1 I believe.
Seems to be a custom build but not sure. Can I just update this tv with a usb stick and the latest android tv ?
I checked for OTA updates but I guess they disabled that.
Would I brick my tv ? I just don’t see what is so custom on this tv that it needs a special build.
It won't work like that. Manufacturers needs to optimise Android TV to the TV, otherwise you'll have a lot of issues (eg drivers for the type of chip used, panel, speakers, what codecs can the decoder handle, is it HDR, etc). There's no generic image you can flash.
