TrueHD on 70PUS8506 with Q700A

by Miidoriin

I have Philips 70PUS8506 and Samsung Q700A which are connected via eARC. When I try to play a movie with Dolby Vision video and TrueHD audio via JustPlayer, the TrueHD audio does not trigger the Dolby Atmos meanwhile normal DDP audios trigger Atmos just fine. Why could this be?

Most TV's with Android TV builtin will not decode or passthrough Atmos/TrueHD using apps on the TV.

Dolby Atmos inside Dolby TrueHD only works with eARC when you connect an external device with support directly to your TV, for example, if you use a device like the Nvidia Shield which supports all the HD codecs (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD) then you'll be able to pass them through.

It's unknown if internal apps will ever support those codecs directly.

Would new Google TLC tv, considered android? Think TLC did great with Roku tv, but awful with what I'll call an oversized Google phone. Paid good money for TLC tv only to tackle constant ads. Also slow or just claims not able to connect or have the smooth connection that other ROKU TLC and my old Sony Bravia tv perform. Anyone else took a chance on TLC Google TV?
