Walmart Onn 4K box - OTG Hub Issue

by HorrorNebula8660

I recently bought an Onn 4k box, and was hoping to get it working with a USB keyboard and mouse. I ordered a Smays OTG Hub with power from Amazon. The hub powers up the 4k box fine and appears to be outputting voltage to my keyboard (lights up), however I can't get the box to recognize either the keyboard or a mouse plugged into one of the other USB ports. I tried three different keyboards and two different mice, but the box does not respond to any of them at all.

Is there a particular setting I need to enable on the box in order to get it to recognize USB devices? I experimented with various settings in the Developers menu, but they did not seem to have any effect. Any advice will be appreciated.

I don't have a SMAYS adapter, but I have a regular powered OTG adapter, and I just tested two wireless USB keyboards with mice, an ASUS and an HP, and the ASUS didn't work with the onn., while the HP worked -- so it could still be some sort of unlucky incompatibility on your part.

I also have a standard USB A 3.0 Ethernet adapter/hub, and I tested that plugged into the OTG adapter, and then the HP keyboard/mouse plugged into the hub, and the Ethernet and the HP keyboard/mouse all worked at the same time.

That said, my Ethernet adapter/hub has been finicky, where the Ethernet connectivity stops working in situations where I've swapped things around with the onn. still powered. If this happens, I've had to completely unplug the Ethernet adapter *and* the power cable (powering down the onn.), and then plug it all back in.

I was able to pair and use my Logitech KB and Mouse with the Onn 2k stick sign BT.
