I purchased a couple of hdr onn tv boxes from Walmart for $20 and they stream flawlessly. Only drawback is they don't have Dolby vision

Edit: just saw you couldn't find ONN box in Europe, honestly wish Google would release a v2 of Chromecast w Google TV or a more premium version to compete w Shield. Been using my Apple TV more lately.

Appletv 4k, have had roku, firestick, shield pro. Still have a htpc hooked up but the appletv has been damn near pefect.

You might want to also consider a Fire Cube.

Could have just done an exchange for the defective Shield but since that ship has sailed what platform do you use for your local content playback. You can throw a dart at the chart for the streaming apps. Any 4k Roku, Fire TV, MeCool etc. can handle those. Here is a handy resource, https://www.androidtv-guide.com/

I'm really happy with my Fire Cube 2. It just works and if you're OK using Dropbox/Gdrive to sideload things it can do pretty much all of the non gaming things a shield can do.

The question should indicate how you intend to use it. Example, do you have an AVR that you want all the audio codecs, do you have a newer TV that supports all of the video codecs.

The correct answer would depend upon those questions. If you answer YES, to those questions, then that eliminates most of the lower cost streamers.

I have had two Shield Pros for several years, and never had any problems with either of those. They are the best Android tv boxes on the market, after review after review! Purchase another one and pay attention to installation instructions; I guarantee that it will please you!

Apple TV 4K for sure

Best performance streaming devices for me personally were the following:

1. Apple TV
2. Roku

Personally I swap between Google TV and Roku but if I was already in the Apple ecosystem, the Apple TV would be my pick.

Google TV I would not buy the latest model as it lacks consistent security and software updates from Google themselves.... (Great UI and app supoort though all-around, just lacking in storage and speed departments, also lacks the latest video codec support for AV1 like the Shield)
