Older Sony TVs are like that too, renders UI at 1080p switches to 4k when something 4k plays. Not sure about newer models but that was due to low-end SoC
I experienced the same thing on a WeMax 4K laser projector, which is the exact same device as other Chinese brands.. they just change names. The device is indeed 4K. It supports that resolution. But not the OS on board. The interface, menus and apps are FullHD and the only way to use 4K is throught HDMI ports and external players. That's the proce you pay with cheap chinese devices. I gifted my friends a Chromecast with Google TV 4K because they were watching YT and Netflix at 720p. Embarassing. So, you'll either need to retrieve an external player or just send back the TV and buy something less chinese.. I'm not discrediting your purchase at all, there are compromises worth doing, chinese devices sure go easy on the wallet, and that must be something to take into account while purchasing ;)
Don't feel too bad...this is the price we all pay to taste the Champagne on a budget of beer. ;)
Xiaomi trickery... LOL
I think my 4k set has set its screen resolution at 1080p and this might be the reason I am not able to view 4k content on Amazon Prime. So any idea guys as to how I can set it back to 4k HDR (please do share a tutorial link/proper steps which I can follow along)
Just for your context: Device: MiTv 4X 50 inch Country: India Apps: DRM info and Res Check respectively Internet Speed: 100 mbps from Top broadband company Also, there is no feature in Device and Preferences>Screen to change my screen resolution settings/display settings.
