Onn 4k UHD box temp

by Menace211

I have some heat sinks laying around that I was thinking about using on the ONN box. Not that it's slow but maybe getting rid of some of the heat will keep it running decent or better. Has anybody tried this? I remember drilling holes into my fire stick case to let some heat out, it worked pretty well. Just curious to see if anybody has.

If I decide to do it, I'll make a step by step for you guys

I've been using my Onn box for over a year now and no overheating noticed. It feels a bit warm but not alarmingly so. Mine has plenty of space around it so maybe that's the difference? Sorry for not being helpful. Have you thought of adding an OTG adapter? You could have it run a mini USB fan. Just a thought. 👍

I hang mine from my TV now, seems to help the heat quite a bit

That's what I'm doing also currently. But I think I'm gonna try the heatsink. If it's somehow gets messed up, oh well, I'm out 20 bucks. Not too big a deal.

No, but I’ve been very tempted. My unit heats up to the point where the remote disconnects. My lazy solution is to put an ice pack on it and that fixes it temporarily.

Never had a heat problem with mine but then again my room has great airflow so its probably always cool. A heatsink would be a great idea since they are so cheap for one bigger than the tiny box.

The box runs really good. I'm just wondering if a heat sync would have any benefit.

I think one of mine is overheating. Remote randomly stops working, or the screen just seems to black out. When I touch it its very warm and I have to pull the power and then plug it back in.
