The only Android TV boxes with the letter B variant in the Amlogic SoC (S905X-B) that provide the Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital conversion are so far:
- Mecool KM8 (discontinued)
- MyGica ATV495Max and ATV598Max (abandoned)
- Mecool KT1 (AV1 hardware decoding. DVB-T2/S2/C tuner built-in. More info at http://mecoolonline.com where you can get a 10% off with the code "mecoolbox" at checkout)
- I think the Homatics Box Q has the SoC (More info at http://homatics.com )
- The Nvidia Shield 2019 have the conversion by software, previous models don't have it.
There must be others but It's hard to know exactly which ones have the SoC variant.
The boxes with the SPDIF port along Android 9 also provide the conversion just like the Mi Box, another known box is the Ematic Jetstream.
Check your TV, which might already have the dolby MS12 audio engine, which is also what the Shield uses. So your TV may already support those conversions, if you set spdif/arc output to DD only output via TV settings.
Kodi, mpv and Vimu player on AndroidTV can also live transcode/convert any audio stream into AC3/DD, so its not really just a hardware feature, since transcoding audio into a DD stream is not very demanding.
