A large part of my screen is blocked when I change the volume. Is there some way to change how it looks i.e. make it transparent or move it? I have a Hisense TV if that helps.

Tried everything. There is no way to do this. I hate it too. :/
Pretty sure that's your TV, not Android TV, look in the TV settings
