Help reddit! I have a fireTv it’s garbage. I am curious about android boxes. What’s the big difference? I am hoping to spend around 75$ CAD for a unit. Friends at work say sky is the limit for what they can do.

The difference is Amazon ecosystem vs Google ecosystem. They run all the same apps and Fire TV sometimes get exclusives that Android TV don't get. I don't know why your Fire TV devices don't last I've have many of them since they launched and they have been bulletproof. I quit using them long before they stop working. But anyway. The Chromecast With Google TV is probably the best in that range but I don't really know what all is available in Canada.

In Canada, ROKU TV is the most popular (at least here in BC it is). I have used it, it's good but I find Google's Chromecast with Google TV better. I bought one for CAD 50 last week.

The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is the affordable Android TV device to buy in 2022. It can be purchased for under $70 CAD from AliExpress and there's a good video review of the product here .

For that price the Chromecast with Google TV is your best option.

If you're asking about Chinese brand Android boxes then try /r/Android, this subreddit is for official Android TV devices only not those piracy boxes.
