Nvidia Shield or CCwGTV?

by sl8yr

I own an Apple TV, but I plan on getting an Android TV box to download the pro version of TiviMate to watch IPTV. Would the CCwGTV be good enough for this? I’ve heard some people say that it can be laggy at times so I wanted to hear someone’s experience. Would the Nvidia shield be overkill for my use case? I might also use YouTube on the Android TV box since it doesn’t work well on the Apple TV. Thanks in advance

I think CCwGTV is enough for your demand.

For people who want to use streaming apps only, CCwGTV is probably good enough.

Having said that, I own the CCwGTV and just bought a Shield TV Pro because it was on sale and I wanted the upscaling feature.

(The biggest advantage of Shield TV Pro is probably local file playback / server, and/or games).

Unlike the CCwGTV, the Shield TV Pro doesn't do HDR on YouTube 🙄

Neither do AV1.

Edit: Hulu's limited HDR content works on Casting only on the CCwGTV (not the app). I assume it's the same for Shield TV Pro, based on Hulu's help article on video quality. Another minor stupidity.

Its just the UI that lags, the apps themselves are fine on it. TiVimate is pretty light and really fast on it. If you're in the US the ONN UHD is just as fast without the UI lag for half the price. The Shield would definitely be overkill just for TiviMate.

CCwGTV is good enough, but I would rather get a Fire TV 4K MAX stick, or a Xiaomi Mi 4K TV Streaming Stick, a Shield is just better, have all three of these and no complaints. CCwGTV lacks AV1 support - otherwise - like I said - good enough.

The CCwGTV can be a little laggy, yes, but for the price it's a great device. NVIDIA Shield will undoubtedly be a better device, but it's a lot more money. Personally I am happy enough with my CCwGTV, it meets my needs, just doesn't impress much.

If you have the cash to spend you can't go wrong with the shield. Ccwgtv is a great device but lacks the usb and ethernet ports.
