The TV in question is a model 40SF1 ffalcon It's got the little light bar and the power button behind that but no remote, I've tried the press and hold, the press once and every thing on the internet I could find but nothing works it just turns on and then straight off again

New TV's often can't be used at all without a remote. I had one in a rental recently that didn't have a single button, so you couldn't even turn it on without finding the correct remote.
It's stupid, but that's where we are now.
