Touchscreen on AndroidTV

by Komeko197

So basically I'm thinking of buying a touchscreen portable monitor along with a android tv box or maybe chromecast 4 for Google tv. I've googled for answers but it's confusing since some people say it works and some don't. Does touchscreen work on android tv or google tv?

I'd bet if you got a cheap Chinese box instead of Android TV it could work. Most everything on there will be using mobile apps that should work with a touch screen. What you are basically describing is a tablet.

Android touch action is just click of mouse. Most of app will works fine. I regularly use Shield Tv remote app with track pad option and mouse pointer. Evrything works except, File Commander app don't recognize clicks on certain icons.

But, you may find sometimes annoying that touch works only at center or corner of big icon not at full icon.

Still, you should be fine with 99% of operations. But with touchscreen you can sideload any android app and use it easily.

The problem is finding a touch screen that is supported by Android. The interface itself works fine via touch, but most touch panels/monitors are not recognized as a control input. Normally they work fine to show the HDMI video signal, but the USB interface is not supported (you may be able to install drivers but it's going to be technical)
