Family accounts

by tman756

Coming from a Roku which didn’t have different accounts. Do those with family generally make a separate account for each family member?

Does it sound reasonable to have one for me, one for my wife, one for each kid (13 and 16), and then one for family? That is how I have most subscriptions set up (Netflix, Hulu, etc).

No. Just use the separate accounts in the apps that have them.

I have an "admin" account that I setup the device with that has access to everything. Then I sign into a kids Google account and setup the pass code protection for profile switching to keep the kids in their sandbox. The Google accounts themselves are part of a "family" and controlled via the Familylink app when I want to change rating and what not.

I also setup separate accounts with PINS in the apps that support it, like Netflix. But the device level profiles are a nice way to control access to things that I want for myself, but do not want my kids to be able to get to at all unsupervised, like Youtube.
