Will need to have DTS & Atmos pass through support too. Is the Nvidia Shield Pro a no brainer for my requirements? I’ve read good things about the Homatics Box 4K Plus too

The Shield for sure can handle all that tried an true. Can you even buy the Homeatics box anywhere?
What kind of Dolby Vision Files are you looking to play? If it's WEB-DL(or direct from the streaming services), the shield is a fine option from what I've heard. But if you want to play Dual Layer Dolby Vision Files ripped from UHD discs, I haven't heard of any box that can do it, only UHD BD players(and certain LG TVs).
Splurged on a Shield pro with an external drive yesterday; so far, Plex is running awesome and I’m so stoked to have pip on the client side of the device too.
If you search the sub. You'll see that the shield is the best. Dint waste your money on cheaper. You'll only be regretting not getting the shields
