I'm pretty sure YouTube Vanced doesn't work on Android TV, but you can always try SmartTube Next

Smartube next for YouTube. Pi hole might work for other streaming services if they don't host the ads on the same domain as the content.

In the way of adblocking most video apps either don't block or break especially stuff like all4 and itv player. It is complicated to keep a stable way of blocking too as you either use a Vpn app method which shield doesn't have access to the Vpn settings meaning it's a bit hit and miss and sometimes just cuts network. The same with DNS as shield doesn't have DNS settings per say so you have to edit the DNS within WiFi or ethernet and I've only had success using ipv4 and again personally found it's a bit temperamental and have major problems trying to run certain apps or a Vpn app alongside.

Smarttube is perfect and has more than just adblocking including sponsorblock If you install a modded version of mobilism and the bridge apk off the official github you get the app with all original YouTube icons and UI aswell as the ability to cast and use voice search on remote so pretty much official youtube app with all the sponsorblock ect.

Just an update for any vanced users on phones again if you look up vanced manager on mobilism there is a modded one that is still running updates using new code but all the same vanced features. I only mention as most who use it know it was officially discontinued months ago.

Before anyone jumps in and says I've forgot adblock through a router I was aiming my answer to adblock through the shield itself but again I have my own setup through ddwrt router which not everyone has to hand and still it doesn't affect most streaming apps video ads in the UK and does cause network problems at times with the shield meaning I turned it of for that device

I installed smarttube from aptoid just last night and unfortunately nothing loads. 🫤
