So I'm running Android TV 5.1.1 (outdated lol) with both these apps downloaded. UI works fine, I can scroll through shows and movies without any problem. The issue I have is the fact that I can't play them. With Disney Plus, I get the error code 39. If the version of my OS isn't the problem, then what is?
Disney + app is not the best, their Hotstar app version is just atrocious.
The best device, for Disney +, seems to be an Apple TV, as it seems to have the least issues and inconsistencies.
On TV's and numerous Android devices, what picture and sound quality you can get, is like a bad cheap lucky packet.
So yes, your OS version might be contributing, or exerbating, the issues already part of their app. Prime Video I will not guess at, since it is awhile since I have had a subscription to their service.
It might also be time to buy a new device altogether.
