replacing an old Sony android tv - is Sharp an option?

by PBandJ_maniac

I have a Sony XBR-65X85D which crashes from time to time. Even after multiple factory resets, I still get random crashes when using Disney+ on wifi along with the occasional wifi not wanting to turn on issue.

I am looking at a replacement and noticed that Sharp now offers Android TVs. Anyone has experience with Sharp android TV? Any pros and cons?

As long as the screen is good just add an 4k firestick or Google Chromecast with google TV. In my experience streaming on a any smart TV can be struggle. Most streaming devices out perform the native streaming capabilities for just about any smart TV

Why not just get a new streaming device? Is there something wrong with the picture? I have a 10-year-old Sony that I added a $20 ONN Walmart Android box in an improve the user experience. A hundredfold. The Smart TV features that were built into the TV just basically stopped working.

My SONY TV drives me crazy. It was the top of the line model when I bought it at the end of 2017, and now the volume will cut out and then the whole tv will just cut off randomly, every day, and then I have to turn it back on and wait for it to reboot. The mute option on the remote also, oddly stopped working. It also hasn't received an update in years. Conversely, I have an older Sharp non smart tv that's about 15 years old that continues to work perfectly. I hate smart TVs. And this is why. The TV should be dumb, and the smarts should be connected in the back.

hmmm... i am trying to keep it simple to keep the family peace. My first few sets had boxes and at the end of the day it was not worth it.
