Philips/Android TV turns on (every) night at 04:00

by DxBang3D

And it is rather annoying since we sleep right next to this unit.

I have written to Philips about this and so far, I have tried to factory reset everything, remove all HDMI connections, remove batteries from remote. Had auto-update and channel-auto-update turned off...

Does anyone have a solution for this besides getting a new Android TV?

Have you ruled out IR interference? Like the neighbor's motion sensors activating through a window or something?

Sometimes this bug is related to software update check, which is set to triggers at odd hours. You can try disabling settings for auto software update. One more suggestion, to disable chromecast app and check if this workaround helps

Some TV's have on and off timers which can be set, I know my Hisense H8G has both.

Long shot but is it set to shop/demo mode? Might wanna look at that.

Beyond that disconnect the network before you sleep which will tell you if it's being externally triggered somehow vs a local setting on the device

Sounds funny but.. do you have external speakers like a soundbar? I remember some years ago i had an issue with a soundbar + philips tv combo doing exactly that crap.

You mentioned removing hdmi connections, try removing audio too.

The same thing happend to my Philips TV. I realized that it only happend when I had been using Amazon video before switch the TV off without closing the app.

When I closed Amazon video app before powering off (or killing the app), it never happend again....

I think the Amazon video app on Philips android TVs is piece of crap.

So i contacted phillips about my tv turning itself on 15-45 minutes after I turn it off, they acknowledged that it is a known issue and unsafe to use. No recall and out of warranty after 1 year, so do not use it unless you want to pay to take it to a service center. 55in

Oh gosh, seeing posts like these from the spoiled rich nations boils my blood. Yeah, I understand it's an issue and should be rectified but for fuck sake, just turn the power switch off for your TV.

You will accept throwing a (almost) perfectly working tv but God forbid if you had to manually turn the power on off once a day.

While we are at this, there is a scheduled power on and off options in electronics. Double check if it is setup in your TV and also double check whether the time and location set in your TV is correct.
