The price difference is negligible so just get the chromecast w/googletv it get more updates and will stay certified with all the major streaming platforms. Even at twice the price it's way more future proof saving you money down the line.

Get the Google TV... It's not amazing but it's fine though personally i go shield, idc about av1 yet though i hope i new shield eventually comes out

I have the Mecool KD5 and love it. It is tunning Android TV 11 and has support for AV1 decoding, which the Mi TV Stick, Mi Box S and Chromecast with Google TV (4k) do not.

You could also look at the Chromecast with Google TV (HD). It also has AV1 decoding (The older 4k model does not) and it’s the first device with Android TV12.

The 4k Chromecast with Google TV is currently running android TV 10 with plans to get an update to Android TV 12 eventually. The two Xiaomi devices are also running on older Android TV versions.
