CCWGTV 4K - loudness equalization/volume normalization/Dynamic Range Compression?

by downloaderfan

Hi All,

While this page says the CCWGTV has volume normalization, I was wondering how well is the volume normalization implemented? Anyone here has tested this well?

Here is the thing, I live in a small apartment with my family so ability to watch videos without disturbing others is the most important thing to me. Dynamic range makes this impossible.

I currently have a Fire TV 4k Max connected to my monitor with Edifier R1280DB speakers, while the Fire TV does have volume levelling, it still leaves a lot to be desired. It reduces dynamic range sure but I still have to fiddle with the volume between dialogues & background noise. Realtek Driver's loudness equalization on Windows works the best, I never have to fiddle with the volume, but I can't watch Prime Video or Disney+ in 4k in Windows as they have restricted this. 😌 (Netflix doesn't do this)

I wanted to test this feature in CCWGTV myself, but here in India there doesn't seem to be a returns policy, only replacement, so I don't want to spend the equivalent of $70 only to find out it sucks and be stuck with it. So can anyone comment on how good/bad this feature is in CCWGTV?

Have you considered a good set of headphones instead?

That page also said that you can't turn it on or off manually.

My CCwGTV is connected to a non-smart Sony TV. In the TV's sound settings, there's an option called "Intelligent volume", which basically does the same thing as volume normalization.

Unfortunately, I don't have a sound system, so I can't test the volume normalization of the CCwGTV.
