I have the 2020 Chromecast with Google TV. Ever since I bought it, I've been struggling with just one infuriating issue.
It yells at me whenever I search using Voice Search on the remote.
Every time I search something - say, "Open netflix" - the Assistant proceeds to say "OK! OPENING NETFLIX!" at nearly max volume. Much louder than whatever content is playing!
I want to disable the Assistant's voice, while still keeping Voice Search enabled.
The support conversations w/ Google always start with "please disable TalkBack" (it's not that) and proceed to "please set output to None under Assistant voice settings on your phone" (it's not that) .
Then it ends with the support agent saying "I'm sorry, it looks like it's not possible to disable the Assistant's voice while using Voice Search. I recommend muting and un-muting the TV whenever you search. We will raise this with the product team."
Now, I saw the new CCWGTV HD announcement and thought perhaps Android TV 12 might have fixed it. Nope, same exact issue, same walk through with support.
Am I missing something? Is this just... not annoying for other folks?
Is Assistant silent for everyone else?
Yep, that's now it works. Yes I guess it's annoying. But what are you gonna do? That's how Google wants it.
