Meanwhile they are selling the 4K version in India at the atrocious price of 7k INR ($90 USD). Fire TV, Mi, Moto, Nokia all sell theirs at 60% of Chromecast at 4k INR ($50 USD).
Seems like the $10 off deal for the HD version is over.
The $19.99 price was there when I read this post a few hours ago.
Went back just now to buy, but it is gone.
Will they finally make a GOOD version of the 4k?
AV1 support? 32GB storage?
Does the 1080 version still require a power brick or can it be powered via the TVs usb port? That's what put me off the 4k version.
Does it have auto frame rate
DO NOT PURCHASE The HD. I don't know what happed with the reviews online this product, but everyone dropped the ball. It's has a product breaking flaw. It cannot play videos without stuttering. This device is clearly underpowered. You might not notice this at first but video playback WILL "hiccup." Sometimes this manifest itself in panning shots where images will be choppy. Other times it will appear like a sort of jump cut. This jumping is slight, less than a second, but will occur about 12 times during an average film. You also get this little clicks. They aren't loud, but the audio disappears for the briefist moment. I watched and read like a dozen reviews of this product (from big YouTubers even) and NOT one mentions this obvious flaw. I am currently testing the 4k version now. It will take me a few days to fully valuate.
Not surprised. We now have 3 of the 4K ones and only the first did I pay MSRP. I bought the day it came out.
They are excellent and what I recommend.
Hows the screen mirroring. I have chromecast built into a JVC TV and when I screen mirror phone it's not full screen which is annoying. When I samsung smartview to other TV it's fullscreen
Hmm think I’ll buy it just for the hell of it. Though I generally dislike the whole dongle thing. Also why haven’t they updated the controller?! My Onn Box has the new one.
ONN watch out
$20 should have been the price from the get-go. The Chromecast HD has no business costing more than the Onn 4K or the Fire TV 4k.
