You probably would need to remove the physical drive and attach it to a computer to get access to the SMART data.
Even if you would find some app to install for Android that could read the data, im not sure if the Android OS would even allow access to that. You might need root access for it. All that is probably not worth the trouble compared to removing the drive, testing it at a computer, then putting it back in.
And in case the drive is actually damaged (or dying soon), you would need to remove it anyway to replace...
