ive started using HDMI CEC because i like the fact that it'll tell me what the device is on the sources instead of my having to guess which im trying to use, question is how do i control the tv while using the sources? (i like to change picture/sound presets depending on what im watching etc) 90% of the buttons control the device and not the TV, if i have to disable CEC everytime then i don't think i'll use it
HDMI CEC is pretty much the other way around: it allows you to use your TV's remote control for devices that are connected to your TV, and it allows devices to turn on/off the TV and activate the right HDMI output. Changing picture settings etc is another level of interaction with your TV that CEC doesn't support.
To support something like that you might be able to use the web API of your TV if that exists, and use something like Home Assistant to automate that.
