How do I cast a powerpoint to my android tv?

by Throwaway_schoolhlp

I am working at a school.

We have TV's for presentations which are done on PowerPoint. They run on a windows 98 computer and PowerPoint 2006.

We are trying to update the systems to be able to run a more modern system. One of the ways we are considering would be to cast to an android tv. The issue is, how would we make it cast and slide automatically? is there software that can do this for free? we can't afford monthly or yearly subscriptions so if there is a one time payment system or free way of doing it, we would love to hear it.

It would also have to be done securely so no student can cast to it how they want

I'm sure there are other ways, but this might be one solution...You will need to update windows. You can use a Chrome browser on windows 7 and above to cast either a tab of the browser or the entire screen to an android tv, or any tv fitted with an android device (eg, a chromecast) . You could simply cast your screen, minimise chrome and open PowerPoint. The PowerPoint presentation can be made to advance slides automatically and in full screen. Not sure if that's help.

we cannot update windows.

You already know what you have to do. Android TV is not the answer.

You could cast from a phone with Google slides, which does quite decent job of importing most PowerPoint files. Casting from a win98 machine probably not going to happen unless you somehow manage to code the support for it yourself, which isn't going to be an easy task.
