Looking for the best solution to run ONLY Kodi on an Android TV box.

by Skullmonkey42

I work in the shipping industry. We have a Synology NAS as a movie/TV server. We are currently using Samsung smart TVs (Tizen OS) to watch videos but, the interface is horrid and doesn't display any information or images and there's no search feature. I would like to run KODI for the UI. I need a device that uses ethernet that I can have on the network but block it's internet access. I would prefer being able to uninstall any apps that I don't need.

A raspberry pi would work nicely for you.

Pick up an Amlogic S905X3 Android box and install CoreELEC on to it.

Don't buy Android box for Kodi only. The best solution is tu run OSMC on Raspberry Pi. Never had any issue running 1080p content on Raspberry Pi 3. 4K should be possible with Raspberry 4. The best option with OSMC is that you can set the frames per second based on the video you are watching so there is no stuttering.
