Best Android TV Box under 100€ for gaming with Steamlink without issues ? (with LAN ethernet port)

by shutecrick2

EDIT / UPDATE : So after looking for a long time, all I could find under 100€ were options that had some latency with Steamlink, according to other redditors posts on r/steam_link. (Or were options from China which were not the most reliable apparently)

I decided to focus on getting the cheapest most reliable streamer and I went for the Chromecast with Google TV HD since my TV is only 1080p. It seems like Stremio works like a charm on it (according to r/Stremio).

Regarding gaming, I will try steam link on it but if it has too much lag, I will get a long HDMI cable, since my computer is in the same room. More efficient and cheaper.

ORIGINAL POST :

Hello everyone!

I am looking to buy an Android TV box under 100€ and need some buying advice because there are too many choices and I struggle to find the best.

My uses will be :

  • Playing Steam games I have on my computer via Steamlink (or is there a better option?). My computer is powerful and hooked via ethernet to a 1gb/s fiber network, so I'm looking for a box with an ethernet port.

  • Streaming content with third party subtitles. As I'm french, I watch all my TV shows / movies with subs. As of now, I have a regular Chromecast dongle but it's failing terribly to display content with subs 3/4 of the time. (Worse case : content doesn't play at all, Regular case : subs don't appear, Best case : Subs appear out of sync) I think it's a matter of Codecs so I'm looking for a box with all possible subs codecs to avoid this kind of issue.

  • Installing third party apps (like Stremio). The box must be running Android so I can access Play Store and allow installation of third party apk.

Thank you!

Chromecast 4k with an Ethernet adapter should be fine

Can you elaborate what you mean by subtitles aren't working? It's this in streaming apps or playing your own media files? If it's with your own files have you tried using Kodi? Should play anything you throw at it

if you're okay with fire OS, amazon just released a new fire tv cube
