Changes to Ambient Mode (Chromecast with Google TV 4K)

I was un-pleasantly surprised with a change to ambient mode (some time within the last 24 hours). It seems they are adding advertisements to different things (Youtube (Fox business? Really? Not my style google), podcasts, etc.).

Steps to get rid of them (at least for now):

After talking with support I was assured the fix we did was the actual fix (who's to say for actual certain). We had found that if you turn off Voice Match in your Google Home app then it seemed to make them disappear. (Click on the device in Google Home App->Click settings gear on top right->Recognition & sharing-> Turn off voice match for this device (that was enough for me). Restarted the google TV and they were gone.

Moving to FLauncher was the best decision I ever made.

Before the last (and only?) firmware update one could easily select an alternative screensaver instead of using ambient mode, but not anymore, at least not easily, not without some adb commands.

Screwed up my clock screensaver, found a couple workarounds thus far, but nothing automated as it was.

Finally got their ambient nonsense disabled, just need to figure out how to get my clock back as a screensaver.

Well, voice match was already turned off for me.

Also, you need to tag the post NSFW, because something's clearing showing between the green & maroon cards 😁
