How to play DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD formats on Mi Stick 4k?

by Nabukodonosor

I have a Mi Stick 4k and it's connected to my Onkyo AVR. The specs say that it supports Dolby True HD and DTS-HD codecs. But when I play some DTS-HD movie my AVR plays it like DTS. Tried every single setting on the stick, but no go. How to make this stick play the audio formats it suppose to support natively?

The only Google certified Android TV box with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio passthrough support is the Nvidia Shield, the rest of the Google certified ones don't passthrough TrueHD but it can be decoded as multichannel PCM by apps such as Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, Kodi, etc., while DTS-HD only passes the core and it can be decoded as multichannel PCM as well.

Can you show us where does it say that it supports those codecs?.

The spec sheet list DTS-HD and Dolby Atmos it does not mention TrueHD. The stick can not decode or passthrough lossless codecs so you will not get DTS-HD MA or TrueHD. With lossless audio you will get the lossy core.

The Dolby Atmos the stick can handle is delivered via Dolby Digital Plus.
