LPCM/DD 5.1 (AC3) stutter but DTS passthrough works fine

Edit: After some thinking I might know what's causing the issue. Since some audio is still bleeding out through the HDMI signal to the TV, the TV might be trying to parse the audio and either screwing things up with the stick or the extractor. Thus it makes sense why DTS is unaffected, Samsung doesn't play it. I can't find a way to disable audio from the normal TV menu, but will try and check if this can be fixed through the service menu.

Hello, I got an HDMI extractor to use with the Mi Stick 4K with an old Samsung DD/DTS receiver through an optical cable and I thought everything was peachy but soon realised that any time I playing Stereo LPCM or Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1 (both from apps or local files on Kodi/MX Player) the audio cuts off for a millisecond every 5 seconds, however DTS works perfectly.

If I plug the optical cable directly from the TV to the receiver and let the TV passthrough, Dolby and LPCM work fine with the receiver, but then I don't get DTS (because Samsung TVs after 2017 don't support DTS passing through).

I have dozens of blu-ray remuxes with pcm/lpcm, ac3 dolby digital and later versions of dolby and the same happens with all of them if I'm passing audio through the extractor, but works fine if it's the TV passingthrough.

Before I realised it was the issue was with the formats, I got a new optical cable and the issue stayed the same. I've spent hours testing multiple settings on the TV, Mi Stick and receiver to no avail.

At first I thought it's some sort of handshake issue with the Mi Stick 4K doing some sort of poor software conversion or sending the wrong bitrate, but the more I think, the hdmi extractor might be faulty? Or does the Mi Stick 4K rely on the TV to process DD? (Is that a thing at all?)

Thanks for any potential clues you might have, it's been tough to google about it since you mostly get DD+ threads.

Additional info: The issue sounds like the sound mutes for a milisecond. Occasionally there's a small pop. It's almost like listening to an old vinyl record. It's very cyclical, every 4 seconds. It doesn't sound like a A/V sync issue. The video does not stutter, just the audio cut-off very briefly.

Some things I've tried:

Disabled HDMI CEC

Tried the Stick on the arc port

The TV is stuck in PCM when the stick goes through the extractor, I can't enable Dolby Digital (I don't know if this makes a difference)

Receiver is just plugged through optical with the extractor. It is not plugged through HDMI to the TV at all.

I've tried all 3 surround sound ("auto", "passthrough" and disable) and all experience thr same stuttering.

Happens at low and high volume

Played around with the receiver audio delay settings

Put the extractor under a better power brick (gonna try and change the Mi Stick 4K too, though I'm not using the OEM one at all since it's underpowered that way)
