AndroidTV with vpn speed problem

by NoroHadzi

Hello,

Maybe somebody can help me.

I have 400mbps connection and use vpn.

On windows pc, macbook and iphone with VPN ON I have speed around 320-350 mbps.

Only on android device (connected by ethernet cable) Im getting speed around 20-40mbps :(

I tried: Changing VPN protocol. Changing vpn server location. Changing transport mode. Turning on small packet size

Nothing helps :( thank you!

TV's ethernet ports are limited to 100mbps.

Add that to the fact that TVs have shitty chips, and that's the result you get. I'm a bit surprised it's that low but it's not that surprising.

Why do you need a VPN on your TV?

It's probably the VPN service you use that is the limiting factor. VPN works by routing the traffic through the VPN server. And the bandwidth the server is capable of or allowed will limit how fast you receive the data.

Are you running the VPN on the device or your router?

VPN encryption is not computationally cheap -- the rather low powered SoC in most streaming devices won't be able to handle it at high speed.

If you ware running one on all devices, you should really be running it at a central location like your router. But you also need a beefier router than normal to do that at higher speeds.
