Android streaming box recommendations

by firvulag359

Hey all, I was hoping to get some recommendations for an Android streaming box.

I currently have a Sony XE9005 TV and while it's mostly great I've run into the problem that the built in ethernet only allows speeds of 100 Mbps. While this is great for most things I do have some high bitrate content that needs higher speeds that this. Even with wi-fi I can only get speeds of around 150 Mbps and from what I've seen online I need a minimum of 200.

From what I've been able to research the Nvidia Shield TV Pro does pretty much everything I want. It's got giga speed ethernet, allows for Dolby Vision and Atmos (I can't utilise this yet but it's nice to have for futureproofing) and shows content in 4K HDR.

The biggest issue I have with this though is that it's quite expensive and it seems a major reason is the gaming side of the box. I have zero interest in this as I have a Playstation and it does what I need.

Are there any alternatives that match the Nvidia's utility but without the gaming side of things?

Thanks in advance!

I've been using a Mecool KM6 Deluxe, very happy with it. 1gb lan connection (which works), Wi-Fi 6 4gb/64gb Ram, (1) 3.0 usb and (1) 2.0 usbbut is not Netflix cert. but plays 720 fine. has AV1 encoding. Has been very stable for me. The shield is a better device but at close to twice the price

I have a shield pro. One thing that amazes me is that there are very few boxes between the CCwGTV and the Shield (at least that are Netflix certified). Google shows no interest in creating a higher end box either.

Get a Fire Stick 4k Max with an Ethernet Adapter. I got round about 300mbit with it. Same with WiFi, but Ethernet is more consistant. If its not for you you can send it back to Amazon...
