Can you use 2020 Chromecast 4k's remote on a FireTV to turn it on/off?

by delta_D_666

Hello, I've recently bought a used TV that has a built in FireTV from a friend. But unfortunately I broke the remote and now I'm stuck with the app for controlling the TV. However to turn on the TV I always have to use the power button cause it disconnects itself from the wifi after an hour or so... Also the app sometimes disconnects itself from the TV which is also a hassle...It also doesn't have any casting option which is also a big problem for me... I'm planning to buy a Chromecast 4k... But can I use Chromecast's remote to at least turn on/off the fire tv?

You can use Chromecast remote to turn on/off TVs via IR learning or HDMI CEC.

If you're connecting the Chromecast to the TV, it should be able to power the TV on/off as long as the TV supports HDMI CEC, and it's enabled on the TV. But that will only work as long as the Chromecast is connected.

I believe they are bluetooth so in theory you would have to pair it with the fire TV. Whether it would work as intended is a different story.

Look at the Onn Android box, load Tivimate app.
