Is there ANY way to block those ads on a newer television? I believe that it's possible to get some smart tube player on androidtv, but these new "GoogleTV" models seem to be a pain in the ass.
Tried searching smart tube player etc from apps and it finds nothing. Also tried "adblock" DNS. Doesn't work. Tried downloading Smart tube player via browser --> tv model not supported.

SmartTube is not available from the Google app store. Try Aptoide TV or use Downloader...search SmartTube in the imbedded browser...download and install from within downloader. Or...search SmartTube via a PC copy .apk to USB stick and install using a file manager...I use FX.
You can just install, smarttubenext instead.
you need to download the .apk from the website & load it onto the TV to install, after downloading the .apk, save it to your Gdrive. Get Xplore file manager & login to Gdrive & then install.

Another option is adding a device (or VM) with Pi-Hole installed to your local network. This will function as a DNS sinkhole for unwanted ads for every device on your network. Usually people use a Raspberry pi or given the current chip crisis alternatively perhaps Odroid. Bit of fiddling but who doesn't like a bit of fiddling ;).

You can use USB. However, I would go with Applinked, Unlinked or FileSynced. One of those stores to download an AdBlocker. Of course, it's all free.
