the latest update has totally fucked me

by jihiggs

I have two of the 4k google tvs, the oval white ones. been using them for a year now with great results. I run kodi on them to play my movie files over wifi. recently my higher bitrate files have started stuttering on one of them. I factory reset it, issue remained. I got my other google tv dongle, worked fine. I did an update on it and now it has the same problem. the video plays but every half second there is a half second pause. I have recreated this with vlc. is there any way to roll back the update? ive turned on developer options but I cant find it. all I can think to do is factory reset it again, block it from the internet to prevent it from getting an update, but there goes any assistant integration and voice control. any ideas?

No idea if there is a way to downgrade those (would like to know as well), but don't bother trying factory reset as a downgrade attempt. Android OS upgrades survive factory resets.

I would try uninstalling updates to the Google assistant app. It's has a Google logo and is called Google but the app name is katniss. You will want to disable automatic updates in the play store first (open play store command works). There is an update on there that seems to make my device not run well. After I uninstalled updates it started working fine and I still can use voice
