Why doesn't the android TV YouTube app have all capabilities of the PC website?

by Delicious_One_7887

It's so dumb. Like why wouldn't it have most capabilities and you have to fire up a web browser on your TV to actually use YouTube with all the features. Even basic stuff like seeing like counts. Why not Google?

It's a different website:

https://www.youtube.com/tv/

You can access it on your PC by spoofing a User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (SMART-TV; Linux; Tizen 5.0) AppleWebKit/538.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 NativeTVAds Safari/538.1

I don't use a web browser on my TV and it works great

Most streaming apps don't have a full webpage experience. If counts are so important for some reason then yes, use a browser. I'm just glad YouTube finally showed comments.

Because it's a TV, not a desktop.

Deadpool-fan-466

Because it'll increase the app size & lag more

AndreaCicca

Because less is more as always.

Elliot_Corp

Because it is not necessary. Who wants to comment on YouTube on TV?
