Best TV stick for my dumb non-4K TV?

by SAAD_3XK

Don't know if this is the place to ask this but I have a dumb non-4K TV from SHARP. The current setup I have is a Mi TV Stick which is connected to the TV (through HDMI) and also connected (through Bluetooth) to a SONY Speaker (as the built-in TV speaker has TERRIBLE sound quality), and we basically only watch NETFLIX and YOUTUBE only. The problem is, due to some fluctuations at home, the Stick has started bugging out and we're desperately looking for a replacement.

SO, what I need is a TV stick that can do 2 things:

A) Play Netflix & Youtube (duh)

B) Connect to my speakers and run sound off of that (This is important as I also have a ROKU but it doesn't connect with my speakers)

That's it. I don't need it to have 4K capability as my TV is non-4K. I just need it to be good quality and fast (and not tremendously expensive) but above 2 are the only things I need it for. Wold love any suggestions. Thank you. sorry if post too long :(

If you want a device to be fast, get a 4K device no matter what. The SOC inside is always going to be faster than a non-4K device. DO NOT BUY non-4K devices. I recommend getting the Onn 4K, even if you pay more for it in Ebay. Don't worry about it not being a stick. It's tiny. Most stick devices are slow.

The original Mi stick 1gb is underpowered. I bought one too many. The Mi Box S has 2gb ram and it works well. Android TV 9 platform is great in my opinion and licensed for Netflix, Prime and Disney. We have several of these. I've ordered the new Mi Stick 4k which also has 2gb ram, runs Android TV 11 and reviews are much better than the original. Fingers crossed.

Xiaomi mi box 4k ultra hd Google chromcast the 4k one Amazon fire tv stick latest gen

These are all pretty good and can run almost anything and aren't underpowered like the xiaomi stick. Ik u only wanted to 1080p but they sell the 1080p boxes and sticks very underpowered I suggest u buy a 4k version and when u upgrade to a new TV the 4k android would be ready and it would be faster then the android that's built in the tv or ur xiaomi 1080p stick

I got the fire tv stick sadly the interface is garbage because it advertising movies and tv shows on ur home screen and u can't change the launcher but i still like it cuz its powerful. The xiaomi mi box does run the native android tv launcher so no ads thankfully. The chromcast runs Google tv and has advertisements in it like the fire tv but the google tvs interface looks pretty even with the ads and u can change the launcher to the native android to get rid of the ads I think.

Also consider connecting TV and speaker using an optical cable. This allows the Mi Stick/Box to control volume in my setup, though we have a Mi TV Soundbar
