Does anyone have experience with using the Google TV remote on a Fire Tablet with their smart TV? I have a Bravia with Google TV scheduled for installation and am musing the idea of picking up a cheap 8" Fire tablet to use for TV and lighting control in the room. I know that the Fire tablet Android version isn't the same as a standard Android install since it does not have any Google services installed.
You can install Google Services, but not all of the services work on Fire tablets.
I have a Fire HD10+ 2021 with all the Google stuff installed via Fire Toolbox. The Google TV app does not show the button to enable the remote. The app works fine on my phone.
Go to the Amazon App Store do this search:
remote ir tv app.
There you find several.
Some of the aps have bluetooth capability, why not use and old smartphone to control everything (with remote aps)?
You'll likely have to root it and install Google services. At least that's how you used to have to do it. Haven't messed with fire tablets for a while though, so it might be easier now.
