I am looking to get a new TV or device for a relative who has difficulty finding channels and favorite shows and selecting movies on demand. I live over 1,000 miles away from my relative and am not always able to find someone locally who can help right away. The key feature is the ability to connect to my relative's TV from my PC through the internet, so that I can change the channel and stream a movie on demand. Are there any Android TVs or devices that will allow me to do this?
I am familar with TeamViewer and Anydesk, but I don't think that these are good solutions to connect to the TV because the ability to connect to the TV may depend on the TV brand/model, and we are dependent on the software in the TV and TeamViewer/Anydesk. I am also seeing way too many complaints about the reliability of TeamViewer/Anydesk to connect to TVs.
Frankly, I am surprised that I have not been able to find a good solution so far. As the population ages, and there are more people with dementia and alzheimers, there is definitely a market to develop easy solutions that will allow caregivers from around the world to help their relatives change the channel and find movies and make other TV adjustments.
I apologize if this is the wrong community - if there is another community I should ask this question, please let me know. Thanks for any suggestions!
I use teamviewer on my laptop to get visual access to their TV, then use teamviewer again on my phone to get access to a tablet or phone in their home, and use an app on that host phone/tablet to control the TV. It works, but it's just ridiculous that it comes to that. They can't operate a goddamn firestick. SMH...
