Trying to decide if I should stick with Firestick or not?

by MahamidMayhem

So I just got the Fire TV Stick 4K because there was a deal but I'm trying to watch a movie on it via Stremio and its pretty laggy at times and the audio goes out of sync. Is the ONN box better in this department?

I went through a lot of devices and eventually settled on the NVIDIA Shield. I have a few across the house and they are each worth every penny. The newest pro model has a very decent 4k AI upscaler that’s great for live streaming tv. It’s expensive but I feel it’s worth it.

I have the Firestick 4K, ONN, and CCWGTV. Honestly, I haven't seen issues with any of them. Yeah, there are some apps I see some crazy buffering in (Adult Swim in particular)--but I've noted no issues in the "big" apps like Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, or YouTube.

Also--the 4K ONN box seems like it was probably discontinued. If your local Walmart still has one in stock pick it up. If you don't like it, just return in.

The firestick 4k saved myself!

I have a buggy Xiaomi Android TV and it really sucks (laggy, sometimes freezes, slow and also some reboots!) so I decided to give the Firestick a go and I'm really happy.

I basically installed everything that I had on the Android TV (Android 9 by the way) and everything is working, probably also better!

Don't think it's your device....pretty it's the stream or your internet before the device becomes the issue.

I've got the fire stick 4k from a couple years ago and it works fine. I stream using Plex over wifi all the time. Only 1080 content though, I don't have anything 4k on Plex. Streaming 4k/UHD from Youtube or Prime video works ok.

The audio does get out of sync occasionally on Plex and Youtube and restarting the fire stick fixes that for a couple weeks.

The chrome cast hd with Google tv works like a charm, my tv up scales it to 4k, but there is a 4k version on sale right now as well. The hd version is $29 CAN and the 4k is $54 CAN. Worth every penny, and no jail breaking or having to use custom launchers, everything just works on it!! I use lots of 3rd party apks on it, they all work amazing!!

the newer Android 12-13 coming out r gonna require 4g but they made an exception for the new CCWGTV HD 1080p limit bcuz it mostly uses cloud based services over an on storage based system. works decent so far but we'll see later on. plus the whole 1080p limit is kinda weak

Apparently the new version due out for Xmas blows all the competition out of the water. Look it up!

If u can’t ur hands on an Onn Box then I def suggest u going for the CCWGTV. There’s a very easy and painless way to make it less laggy. I got one for the Black Friday deal and I cant complain. If u buy the CC just go to the Play Store and download “Projectivy Launcher”. It cancels the dumb Ads it comes with. It free… Oh and don’t go for the Firestick. I’ve had 3 and they’ve all lag after a month. Just my experience.

also here's a tip... go for whoever has the most memory... not storage but memory. anything under 2-3 gigs is a joke
