ARC issues.

by sachmonz

Having converted from optical to ARC on our sony 65x9000c and a LG Blu-ray home theater system I'm facing some issues and unsure what to do and this is new to me. I've tried to mention whatever I can that I think is pertinent, but I don't know what I don't know.

The issue is if I turn off the TV that turns off the home theater which is fine however next power on from standby the home theater just goes to it's home screen instead of saying ARC and letting the TV do what it was doing (usually Plex or Netflix).

Home theater is set to bitstream, and all works fine if I cold boot or reboot the TV (hold power button on remote).

I've changed the HDMI lead as well.

Any ideas appreciated

Sounds like there may be a CEC issue Try turning off CEC on the Sound system. See if that changes anything.

Have you looked at your CEC settings on your TV or home theater? Sometimes CEC can turn things on when you don't want them to.

I don't think ARC works on the device. I've tried to get it working, but it only wants to recognize being a stereo setup.

I had similar issues with my tcl TV and arc, ended up buying a better avr that had earc and its much better (earc doesn't rely on cec)

Nowadays I use a ccwgtv in the avr's hdmi input as I discovered the tv won't actually use the full capability of earc (refuses to do uncompressed surround, instead down mixes it)
