It appers that most streaming apps only play in HD SDR. Is this just Android TV or the KM2 its self.

Which streaming apps?
It has a lot to do with the apps supporting it but I consider it an Android issue
Apple has one line of devices, iTV so it's easy to get full support as it's a locked down system
Android is a bit of a wild horse, you got thousands of devices that can be made by anyone but some of them lack the security needed to keep people from copying video streaming so they get lesser quality. I've seen some power house android boxes get SD video from apps unless you get a modified app and then you get just HD
I don't think you're device would fail root check and it's a L1 security device, technically speaking these apps should feel confident their video is safe on that device , I think they just don't certify it since there are so many android devices. Typically Nvidia, google and Amazon devices seem to get the best app support.
I hope it changes soon, but with Android being so open it's always going to be a gamble find a devices where every app takes full advantage of your hardware
Another odd thing when you run dumpsys window displays via adb it never says 2160p but on the 3rd gen cube it does and the Shield Pro. So i am thinking the device only does 1920x1080
Hi my friends I have a big problem my device mecool km2 plus stuck on blue light and don't won't open please help me
The Prime Video version (5.7.8+v14.0.0.230-amrv7a) that came installed on the KM2 Plus, doesn't update at all, on the Google Play Store or via APK, doesn't it update to the latest version?!
This is a system glitch. I need an update to fix this issue!
The KM2 Plus is certified device by Google that meets all the required standards, beyond that, any problem with the video or audio depends on the firmware, the TV where it is connected and if the app is supporting certain video and audio features, for example, Disney+ is not supporting Dolby Atmos in the majority of TV boxes.
Weird since it's a certified 4k hdr10+ device. What screen are you using? What are the apps that only work in Hd?
Hulu has very limited amount oh 4k to start with, whereas Disney+ has lots of it and they provide HDR 10 and DV on Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, and HDR 10 on Onn UHD.Same with Netflix, Vudu, Apple TV+, Movies Anywhere, Fox Sports, so,it's notsomelimitation of Android TV but choices made my the content provider. Maybe because of slight difference in hardware or some other reason.
In my conclusion it appears that the device does not report the correct tv resolution that it is connect to. When you run getprop it states max res is 1080p not 2160p as on other devices that I have. Can I assume this is correct and a firmware update is needed.
