The TV is still good, buy yourself a decent quality Android streaming device, and plug it in a HDMI port and you good for another 5+ years.

No you shouldn't. Which update do you feel you're missing?
If you can afford it 2023 models will have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and Android 12.
Sony is horrible with updates. I have their HT-Z9F soundbar and their last update was in Aug 2020 (I just checked too). Good call on getting the Nvidia Shield, as I have the Pro model paired to my TCL R635. I love the 4K upscaling and Dolby Atmos
TVs rarely get updated past 1-2 years. And almost never full version updates.
But if that matters, why would you buy a whole new TV instead of just getting an external streaming device?
